Sentara Health is currently seeking a Health Record & Info Tech at our Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Virginia.

Hours/Shift: Full-Time, Evenings. Sunday-Thursday 2:30pm-11:00pm.

    Sentara Obici Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility located in Suffolk, Virginia. This 172-bed, full-service hospital continues a legacy of providing residents of Western Tidewater with high-quality, patient-centered care. In June 2010, Sentara Obici opened a new three-story, 63,480 square-foot wing, which includes all private beds serving orthopedic, medical, and surgical patients and increased the hospital s bed capacity.

    Position Overview:

    As a Health Record & Info Tech with Sentara, you will a ccount and prepare all documents for precision scanning into the electronic medical record with strict attention to maintain patient confidentiality guidelines for safeguarding patient medical information. Required to work within many different computer environments to track, scan, identify, validate, and access medical records. You will be responsible for maintaining data and statistics to support activities.

    We are looking for an individual who is dependable and reliable. Has critical thinking skills, pays close attention to detail, is team-oriented and works well independently. Excellent customer service skills are a must.

    Education Required:

    High School Diploma

    Experience Required:

    One year experience in medical records data

    *Graduate of an approved Health Information Technology/Management training program can be substituted for one year of medical records data job experience.

    Job Summary

    Graduate of an approved Health Information Technology/Management training program can be substituted for one year of medical records data job experience.
    Knowledge of general medical terminology. Experience preferred working within different windows in a computer environment and ability to work in duplicate systems during periods of implementation. Ability to multi task in a rapidly changing environment and prioritize tasks/functions. Work individually and in a team environment. Have organizational skills, eye-hand coordination, strong attention to detail, able to problem solve and meet process document standards as established.

    Qualifications:

    HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
