Suffolk, VA Job Summary The Applied Research Cloud Architect
establishes and defines cloud standards & governance for
center-wide applied research and conducts and supervises technical
development and architectural strategy in the areas of software
development and infrastructure advancement, with special focus on
research technology modernization utilizing cloud computing and
managed services. The incumbent may serve as principal investigator
or co-principal investigator for specific sponsored research
projects and is responsible for the proper completion of statements
of work under delivery orders or contracts. Position Type FullTime
Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum Qualifications A
Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer
Science, or bachelor's degree in a related field of study and
related work experience equivalent to a masters degree.
Demonstrated knowledge of the field and key practices of agile
development and DevSecOps in cloud environments and the ability to
relate this knowledge to various research programs and projects.
Demonstrated knowledge of the design and development process for
assisting researchers and PIs in deploying modeling, simulation,
and visualization applications in cloud-native and cloud-connected
systems. Demonstrated knowledge of and familiarity with Agile
Development Tools to support research activity in advanced fields.
Proficient skill in the areas of cybersecurity, data management,
computer systems engineering, and network communication and network
management. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal
communication skills, with demonstrated ability to coordinate
software and research teams. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize
and organize engineering research teams to modernize legacy
software systems and products. Demonstrated ability to interface
with both federal government customers and industry partners within
both open and secure contexts. Demonstrated ability to exercise
independent judgment and decision-making. Demonstrated ability to
adapt policies, procedures, and methods to fit unusual or complex
situations. The judgment to set priorities, evaluates results, and
coordinate work with others. Demonstrate ability to prepare written
correspondence, technical reports, product documentation, proposals
and other pertinent documents as they relate to cloud
orchestration, deployment, and systems management. Demonstrated
ability to schedule and set priorities. Preferred Qualifications
Platform-specific cloud professional developer or equivalent
certificates are expected. Conditions of Employment Secret-level
security clearance preferred. Candidates must qualify to receive
clearance if necessary for secure systems access and
