This position provides data analysis and systems support to
promote the strategy, management, and governance of master data
including the integration of data ownership in business processes
across the Smithfield enterprise.
* Data creation and maintenance: * Executes master data creation
and maintenance in accordance with established standard operating
procedures, templates/mapping documents, service level objectives,
and project plans. * Completes/processes SAP loads utilizing data
workflow tools, load templates and corresponding programs, mass
change transactions, and/or direct entry depending on the
situation. * Includes some evening/weekend work to minimize impact
to the business.
* Data governance: * Enforces gatekeeper processes requiring
appropriate data and approvals to ensure SOX compliance. * Upholds
master data standards by validating/normalizing/cleansing data to
ensure adherence to technical and business rules, naming
conventions, abbreviations, etc. * Runs error reports and/or pulls
data to identify inconsistencies and load corrections. * Performs
periodic data audits.
* Data resource: * Functions as a master data knowledge resource
by helping the business understand master data and the data
workflow tools used to request adds/changes (level 1 support). *
Documents data issues engaging Manager to work with the business
and technical teams as needed to reach resolution. * Provides
business and third parties such as customers, warehouses, and
consultants with ad hoc reporting as directed.
* Data initiatives: * Works with Sr. Analyst and/or Manager to
understand rules and data setup for new requirements due to system
enhancements, process improvements, and/or business rule changes. *
Provides support for testing and implementation.
* Data documentation: * Maintains logs/shared files to document
master data activity for projects, status reports, and SOX
compliance. * Creates/maintains standard operating procedures, user
request forms, and other documentation to promote data
* Data skill building: * Provides cross-training/shares
knowledge with teammates to build skills across the master data
team. * Continuously improves knowledge of master data to better
understand how data elements are used both technically and by the

* Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 2+
years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination
of education and experience, required. * Advanced user of Microsoft
Office applications, especially Excel. * SAP and DSP (Data
Stewardship Platform) experience is preferred. * Strong research,
analytical, and problem-solving skills. * Highest level of accuracy
and attention to detail. * Excellent written and verbal
