is seeking an Enterprise Database (EDB) PostgreSQL-experienced DBA
candidate to support the management and maintenance of PostgreSQL
for existing command applications and systems. The candidate should
have design and implementation experience of mid- to large-scale
technical solutions. The ideal candidate has a strong blend of
people skills and in-depth knowledge of database deployments
including but not limited to being able to perform all aspects of
database administration and maintenance for PostgreSQL in a
virtualized Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system environment,
as well as thoroughly understand multi-site replication, backup,
and restore configurations. Candidate should possess following
skills: * 8+ years of DBA level experience with PostgreSQL or other
major relational databases, including Oracle. * 3+ years of
experience working on Linux operating systems, preferably Red Hat.
* 3+ years of experience working in VMware virtualized environment.
* Ability to configure, monitor, and maintain databases preferably
with PostgreSQL and Oracle. SQL Server experience will be
considered. * Experience in implementing PostgreSQL STIG
implementation, testing, and other vulnerability remediation. *
Proficient with Postgres database management tools like EDB
Enterprise Manager (PEM), EDB's Backup and Recovery Tool (BART). *
Proficient with database tuning and use of Postgres tools such as
PgBadger, EDB PgStatsPack, EDB DRITA. * Proficient with PostgreSQL
replication technologies Binary Streaming Replication, EDB xDB
Replication, Logical Replication via Slony, Londiste. * Proficient
with PostgreSQL networking, HBA and connection pooling (PgBouncer,
PgPool). * Working knowledge of OLTP/DSS/DW system design. *
Automate routine tasks with scripts, optimize databases for needs
of applications, improve database backups, and test recoverability.
* Solve production problems and participate in extended/outside
core work hours as needed. *
--- Strong SQL Developer skills and experience developing SQL and
PL/SQL (triggers, procedures, functions, views, etc.) *
--- Experience writing and tuning SQL queries to maximize
performance in large data volume environments, and extracting and
transforming data from databases to generate reports and/or data
exports. *
--- Ability to approach problems proactively, a self-starter, well
organized and exhibit attention to detail. *
--- Strong verbal and written communication skills Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent 10 years of IT experience, in
information systems engineering, or computer science .
Certifications: Security+CE and Computing Environment certification
such as EDB PostgreSQL Advanced Server Professional (preferred) or
SQL/Oracle Database Administration, or Linux Red Hat. All
candidates selected will be subject to a background security
investigation and must meet all eligibility requirements for access
to classified information.
