Ask about our Relocation Assistance packages!In addition, we offer opportunities for career growth, professional development, and tuition assistance.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows: Assist the HR Manager in strategically driving the success of the HR department.Maintain a positive labor/employee relations environment for the affected facility. Facilitate workplace investigations or other inquiries (under guidance of HR Manager) arising out of needs expressed by employees and/or manifestation of policy or rule infraction(s).Ensures hourly production employee retention for the business unit is maintained at an acceptable level. This may also include data entry into the time/attendance keeping system and management of the job/vacation bid processes.Provides guidance on facility workforce planning and succession planning, conducts orientation and supports OJT training initiatives.Effectively communicates and demonstrates Smithfield's ROI guiding principles (Responsibility, Operational Excellence and Innovation).Assists in the development and ongoing execution of the location's DE&I initiatives, Affirmative Action Plan and maintains a positive employee relations environment. Utilizes tools such as culture survey results.Provides necessary resources to empower employees with the knowledge and materials needed (FMLA, LOA, ADA, Workday resources, etc.)May assist Human Resources Manager in providing position and performance guidance based upon human resources policies and procedures including the collective bargaining agreements. Including but not limited to grievance meetings, records entry/management, employee inquiries, community relations activities, temporary staffing services and invoice management.Provide direction/leadership to junior staff in servicing employee needs and performing the overall Human Resources & employment functions for the business unit, as needed.Actively listens and provides constructive feedback, recognition, and gratitude.Serves as a visible business partner, regularly visits the production floor to engage employees at all levels, relating openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people.Assists in the oversight and responsibility of all HR-related compliance audits including SMETA/SWA.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions .Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business Management or related field, and 3+ years of Human Resources related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.Experience acting as a lead by providing training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff or through managing a process or project.General knowledge of employment laws and practices.Possess specialized knowledge of HR systems, processes, and procedures.Experience in administration of benefits, compensation, and other programs; preferred.Knowledge and use of commonly used HRIS such as Workday, payroll/timekeeping systems and Microsoft Office Suite.Strong communication skills: speak, read, write, address groups, individuals, conduct investigations; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees.Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment.Must be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong business partnerships and a positive work environment.EEO/AA InformationSmithfield is an equal opportunity employer committed to workplace diversity.
