Your Mission As an Ophthalmic Scribe I, you will collaborate closely with our Ophthalmologists and Optometrists to provide high-quality direct patient care. What You’ll Do Obtain and document patient history Follow AVP care-pathing model Determine visual acuity Understand routine and basic medical ICD-10 codes Understand routine insurance plans Use lensometer (manual and auto) Responsible for stocking rooms Understand scheduling Complete monthly chart audits Responsible for medication refills Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician Perform office duties and clinical tasks – entering data into EMR, providing patient services Requirements What You Bring Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required Must be flexible with traveling to various locations Ability to pay attention to detail Ability to maintain confidentiality The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable The ability to recognize inconsistencies High School diploma or GED, associate degree preferred Billing and Coding Certification required within 1-2 years from being in role OSC Certification required within 1 year of being in role Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without accommodation, including the ability to use power hand tools and lift a minimum of 70 lbs. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. · Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity including viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, interpretation, etc. · Must be able to be stationary for prolonged periods of time. Cognitive Requirements: · Executes tasks independently. · Learns and memorizes tasks. · Maintains concentration/focus on tasks. · Performs task in a demanding environment requiring multi-task and prioritize work. · Must be comfortable working and interacting with large groups of people daily.
