Deliver specialized care in an Intermediate Care setting focusing on patients requiring close monitoring and advanced nursing skills. This contract role is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses (RN) with a background in stepdown or progressive care units, particularly those skilled in cardiac care and critical thinking. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, prioritize care needs, and implement tailored treatment plans. Perform medication administration safely and monitor patient responses. Interpret advanced cardiac rhythms and manage related therapies including oxygen and cardiac drips. Provide wound care, manage IVs and NG tubes, and monitor vital signs rigorously. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care. Maintain patient safety, advocate for patient and family needs, and adhere to established nursing practice models. Float to other Med-Surg/Telemetry units as needed to support flexible staffing. Qualifications & Desired Experience: Current RN licensure in the practicing state or compact license. Minimum of 2 years recent experience with at least 6 months in acute care; stepdown or telemetry experience preferred. BLS and ACLS certification required; dysrhythmia exam required (study guide provided). Proficient in electronic health records, preferably EPIC. Strong skills in critical thinking, time management, communication, and clinical judgment. Prior travel nursing experience is a plus. Ability to work 12-hour day shifts including every other weekend and holidays. Additional Details: Unit has 29 beds with capability to expand to 37; nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:3 to 1:5. Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians and Health Unit Coordinators. Patient population includes complex cases such as CKD, CHF, COPD, sepsis, and GI bleeds.
