Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Chesapeake, VA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,002 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/9/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years, Preferred 3 years License: Valid state nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Proficiency in EPIC - Experience with vents, IV start, telemetry, PA lines, conscious sedation, neuro IV titration, and insulin IV - Strong neuro experience Description: Located in a beautiful area known for its outdoor activities. This position involves caring for a variety of patient populations in a general step-down unit. The unit primarily sees patients experiencing pulmonary acute respiratory failure, cardiac issues not requiring ICU care, and sepsis without pressors. Common patient diagnoses include COPD exacerbations, CHF exacerbations, NSTEMI/STEMI, and minor trauma. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, and sometimes it can be 1:5. Traveling nurses are expected to float to other departments as needed. All travelers are required to take appropriate patient ratios which may include 1:6 or even 1:7 on certain occasions. Prior charge experience is preferred. Travel experience is also preferred. Candidates must not have any prior license or background hits. A valid driver’s license for address verification is required. The facility cannot accommodate PAPR for fit testing.
