support of the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA (NMCP) and its
associated Branch Health Clinics (BHC) and Tricare Prime Clinics.

Available as Well! Patient Population: Mainly Patients from age
17-64. Pediatric coverage is supported by a Pediatrics Team at each
location, except the Northwest Clinic site. As a result, pediatric
patient volume for this role is minimal and typically limited to
occasions when the Pediatrics Team is unavailable or during weekend
coverage (e.g., Saturdays). Work Schedule for Clinics: Branch
Health Clinic-Boone: Mon-Sun 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Branch Health
Clinic-Oceana: Mon-Fri 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Branch Health
Clinic-Northwest: Mon-Fri; 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Tricare Prime
Clinic-VA Beach: Mon-Fri; 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Tricare Prime
Clinic-Chesapeake: Mon-Sun 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Tricare Prime
Clinic-Suffolk: Mon-Sun; 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Job Duties, the duties
include but are not limited to the following: • Perform a full
range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted
by the MTF. • Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of
other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical
privileges or responsibilities. • Examine, diagnose, treat or
prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training,
experience, and privileges. • Provide preventive and health
maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health
behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling. •
Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request
consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or
other health resources as indicated. • Technically proficient in
directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational
lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training
to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere
to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted
clinical protocols. • Participate in peer review and performance
improvement activities. • Practice aseptic techniques as necessary.
Comply with infection control guidelines to include the proper
handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes, and the use
of universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection. •
Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following
established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate
persons, and documenting events. Anticipate potential
problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions. Notify
supervisor, director, or other designated person regarding problems
that the HCW is unable to manage. • Operate and manipulate
automated systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, ADS, Essentris, MHS Genesis
and Clinical Information System (CIS), participate in clinical
staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM)
functions, as prescribed by the Commander. Maintain DOD email
account as directed. The HCW shall be responsive to all email and
voicemail communications. • Attend and/or comply with all annual
training classes required by the Command, to include but not
limited to online annual training provided by the MTF: disaster
training, infection control, Sexual Harassment, Bloodborne
Pathogens, Fire and Safety, Chemical, Biological, Radiological,
Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE), and all other required training. •
Attend and participate in various meetings as directed.
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduate from an
accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. This
degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical
Education of the American Medical Association; Association of
American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education;
Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American
Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for
Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was
obtained (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
(RCPSC), College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). A Doctor of
Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must
provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to
accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to
accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by
permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign
Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who
completed premedical education in the United States and graduate
education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the
U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Degree: Doctor of Medicine
(M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Board Certification: Be
board-certified in one of the following: Family Medicine, Primary
Care, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine. Experience: Possess
a minimum of one (1) year of Family Practice, Primary Care,
Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, or Emergency Medicine experience
within the preceding two (2) years. Internship/Residency:
Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an internship and
residency program (corresponding to the specialty required in the
TO) which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for
Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral
Training of the American Osteopathic Association. DEA
Certification: Current DEA Certification Licensure: Current, full,
active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine.
Certification: BLS and ACLS Certification from the AHS or ARC
