City/State Suffolk, VA Work Shift First (Days) Overview: Sentara
Obici Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for 2
South- Stroke/Telemetry. This is a Full Time, Day shift position in
Suffolk, VA. Hours: 7A to 7P with rotating weekend schedule. The
Stroke/Telemetry Unit at Sentara Obici Hospital provides care for
patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac
rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and
defibrillators, post- coronary interventions, post-ablation,
myocardial infarctions. 2 South also cares for pre/post
catheterization, acute stroke, and post procedural neuro cases.
This 25-bed unit sees a ratio of 1:5 with mixed patient acuity
levels. Patient Care Techs assist with a ratio of 1:8 on average.

Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in
nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical
leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under
the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality
initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to
the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes
excellent (Gold Standard) customer service. Education - Bachelor of
Science Nursing- BSN (required) Or - MSN (Preferred)
Certification/Licensure - Registered nursing License (Required) -
BLS required within 90 days of hire - ACLS required within 90 days
of hire - Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.
Experience - 18 Months of acute care RN experience(required) -
Previous healthcare experience (required) - Experience in stroke
and telemetry care areas preferred - Charge nurse experience
