Job Description:
Summary Nansemond Pediatrics currently have three physicians and
one nurse practitioner. Our administrative and clinical team
consist of 11 staff on site and four off-site centralized services
for triage calls, patient outreach coordinators, billing, and
coding. The practice has 18 exam rooms and two triage rooms and an
average annual patient volume of 13,000 visits. The Pediatric
Primary Care Physician will be responsible for conducting routine
health examinations, preventive visits, and chronic and acute
illness management. The Pediatric Primary Care Physician is
accountable for delivering comprehensive quality patient care
according to standards of practice. The Physician functions as a
member of an inter-disciplinary team within an integrated academic

Suffolk has a projected pediatric growth of four percent this year.
It is located on the outskirts of the Hampton Roads area within a
reasonable drive to Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, Chesapeake,
Hampton, and Norfolk. The area of Suffolk, Va boasts 19 public
schools from kindergarten-12 th grade and a variety of private
schools in the area, as well as day-care centers. Other area
attractions include Suffolk Cultural Arts Center, Suffolk Art
Gallery, area golf course, local shopping centers, and other

Location – Suffolk, VA Schedule - Monday to Friday, 800 to 1700,
Full Time, Days/Rotated On Call ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Provides
primary medical care for a dedicated panel of patients, including
diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness according to
evidence-based standards. Obtains clinical histories, conducts
appropriate physical examinations and assessments, orders
diagnostic testing and formulates treatment plans. Conducts routine
health examinations, screenings and evaluations and makes
recommendations for preventive health measures and screening tests
as appropriate. Delivers age-appropriate anticipatory guidance.
Orders and is responsible for the dispensing and administration of
certain medications and immunizations on-site. Documents
appropriate clinical information in the electronic health record in
a timely manner and completing billing per CMG policy. Reviews
documents including outside records and consultant reports and
summarizes information in the medical record. Determines need for
additional services including but not limited to nursing, care
coordination, social services, health education, and referral for
specialty care. Participates in regular multidisciplinary clinical
team meetings and assists in the coordination of care in a
team-based setting. Refers patients to hospitals for emergency care
and admission when needed and communicates with hospital staff as
appropriate. Uses and promotes evidence-based clinical practice.
Reviews on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing
medical attention. Consults with Medical Director and other medical
professionals as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and
education issues. Participates in quality improvement, management,
continuing education, and other patient care programs established
by CMG. Participate in the identification and implementation of
opportunities to enhance patient and family satisfaction. Academic
appointments with EVMS is supported and encouraged SUPERVISORY
OPPORTUNITIES Serve as the collaborating physician of Advanced
Practice Providers. Precept medical students and Advance Practice
Providers. No supervision of direct reports required. EDUCATION &
EXPERIENCE Medical Doctor (M.D.) Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
(D.O) Pediatric Residency completion LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
Board Certification/Board Eligible Pediatric Medicine with
expectation of board certification within 2 years of date of hire
