- Monday-Friday days Pediatrician Job Overview:
- Perform a full range of Pediatric Physician services for
pediatric patients under eighteen (18) years old.
- Provide a full range of pediatric medicine services (e.g.,
clinically oversee and provide general screening and medical care
and examinations of adolescents for routine, acute and chronic
conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide
immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel, developmental and
learning disabilities (cerebral palsy, developmental disability,
birth defects, ADHD, emotional problems and adjustments, and child
abuse and neglect; etc.)).
- Clinically oversee and teach other medical staff. Provide
educational lectures and participate in the provision of in-service
training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction
will adhere to government and professional clinical standards and
accepted clinical protocol.
- Provide age appropriate patient/parent education on diseases,
conditions, procedures, medications, prevention, and
wellness.
- In out-patient setting, perform well child examinations, sports
physicals, and general pediatrics acute visits.
- Order and interpret diagnostic and testing procedures to
include laboratory and radiological examinations.
- Participate in the implementation of the Family Advocacy
Program as directed. Participation shall include, but not be
limited to, appropriate medical examination, documentation, and
reporting.
- Attend and/or comply with all annual training classes required
by the Command, to include but not limited to online annual
training provided by the MTF: disaster training, infection control,
Sexual Harassment, Blood borne Pathogens, Fire and Safety,
Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE),
and all other required training.
- Actively participate in the command's Performance Improvement
Program. Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care
provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care
delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems
exist.
- Attend and participate in various meetings as
directed.
- Perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation of patient
care.
- Participate in the provision of in-service training to clinic
staff members. Provide training and/or clinical direction as
applicable to supporting government employees (e.g., hospital
corpsmen, students, etc.).
- Operate and manipulate automated systems such as CHCS, AHLTA,
ADS, Essentris, MHS Genesis and Clinical Information System (CIS),
participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk
Management (RM) functions, as prescribed by the Commander. Maintain
DOD email account as directed. The HCW shall be responsive to all
email and voicemail communications.
Pediatrician Job Qualifications:
- One (1) year full-time experience as a Pediatrician in the last
two (2) years
- BC: Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics
- PALS
- BLS Providers by AHA or ARC
- Computer competency
- MD or DO
- Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States
or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on
Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association
of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical
Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the
American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized
by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council
for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was
obtained (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
(RCPSC), College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). A Doctor of
Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must
provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to
accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to
accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by
permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign
Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who
completed premedical education in the United States and graduate
education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the
U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
- Internship/Residency: Approved by the ACGME or the Committee on
Postdoctoral Training of the AOA Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor
of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have
had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct
service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 1-year internship or the
first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution
accredited for such training). For purposes of this requirement,
graduate training programs include only those internship,
residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting
bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions
of such programs are described below.
An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in
which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of
medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine,
surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics).
Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for
internship training an appropriate accrediting body.
A residency program involves training in a specialized field of
medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in
the specialty by an appropriate accrediting body.
A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency
training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or
research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the
United States for such training.
- MD Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted. Any U.S.
state or territory.
- Clinical competency
- 2 Letters of Reference with specified LOR requirements written
within the last two years attesting to skills including from
supervising practicing physician(s) and hospital administrators.
