Job Description District 19 Community Services Board is seeking
a full time registered nurse in our Emporia area clinics to conduct
nursing psychiatric assessments, assess physical health needs, make
appropriate referrals to community physicians, providing management
and administration of medication in conjunction with the
psychiatrist and providing a range of treatment, lab services, and
support services. Incumbent must have a strong commitment to
persons with a severe and persistent mental illness to help them to
live in normal community residences, work in market jobs, and have
access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous support and
services. Preferred candidate must also have the skills and
competence to establish supportive, trusting relationships with
persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Respect for
client rights and personal preferences in treatment are essential.
Must have strong communication and documentation skills. Work is
performed under the general direction of the Medical Services
Manager. Must be able to provide phlebotomy services,
administration of intramuscular medication, supportive counseling,
have knowledge of psychotropic medication uses, side effects, and
potential interactions. Knowledge of community based services
required as well as some out of office work. Travel to satellite
clinics required, with agency vehicle provided or mileage
reimbursement for personal vehicle. Must have basic computer
skills. Must have a current State of Virginia license to practice
as a Registered Nurse. RNC Preferred. Required to obtain and
maintain CPR certification. Must possess a valid VA Driver's
License with an acceptable motor vehicle record. Must have the
ability to tolerate light lifting, bending, stooping, reaching, and
climbing stairs. Prefer a minimum of one year of work experience in
an inpatient or outpatient psychiatric setting. Experience in
electronic health records systems preferred. This is a Grade 211,
salaried position. The minimum starting salary is $60,000.00. ---
