Job Description:

The Ahoskie Chamber of Commerce is now seeking applicants for the Executive Director position. The Executive Director for the Ahoskie Chamber of Commerce is above all else a true member of the community one who is passionate about fostering relationships among the businesses, advocating on their behalf, and supporting economic growth in the area. This person will be the chief executive responsible to the Board of Directors for the daily activities of the Chamber of Commerce, including all administrative, operational, personnel and financial requirements of the organization. This is a salaried (exempt) position.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide key leadership in the community. To achieve this, the Executive Director must take an active role and be visible with the individual members of the Chamber. Actively work to carry out and achieve the Chamber mission statement. Establish and develop credible, healthy relationships with key elected o---cials in order to better represent the interests of Chamber members. Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies to increase membership and retain existing members. Provides annual report detailing strategies and results. Actively participates with and assists all Board of Directors Committees Prepares and submits annual budget to Board of Directors for approval and is accountable for ensuring that the budget is adhered to throughout the fiscal year. Ensures physical o---ce facilities are maintained in a manner that provides for e---cient operations and stays presentable for Chamber guests Represents the Chamber of Commerce at community business activities and functions, which includes some evening and weekend appearances. Any and all duties assigned deemed necessary to maintain operationsSupervisory Responsibilities:The Executive Director supervises all Chamber employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.Preferred Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Communication, Marketing, Business, or a related field Prefer 4 or more years related work experience including managing a non profit organization.Key Skills & Abilities:

Communication ability to express ideas clearly and simply; listening to others; promoting the timely and ongoing flow of information to others Computer Literacy ability to utilize computer business software like Microsoft O---ce, Quick Books, WordPress, desktop publishing, etc. Leadership ability to align and inspire others to achieve common goals Strategy/Vision ability to develop a long-term vision for the organization complete with an idea of possible emerging problems and a strategy to combat them Flexibility both with scheduling and with alternating between directing the Chamber internally while also addressing the community externallyJob Type: Full-timePay: From $35,000.00 per yearBenefits: Flexible scheduleSchedule: Self-determined scheduleWork Location: One location
