Job Description Job Description Job Title: Equipment Technician /HVAC Technician Job Description As an Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for loading and unloading equipment, performing basic preventative maintenance, and conducting minor repairs to minimize equipment downtime. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities Load and unload equipment safely and effectively. Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment. Conduct minor repairs to avoid equipment downtime. Work with Power/HVAC/Compressor/Pump equipment and accessories. Utilize knowledge of generators, power distribution, A/C, heaters, HVAC, and diesel-driven pumps. Understand and apply operational processes and systems. Essential Skills 1-3 years of experience in repairing and maintaining Power/HVAC/Compressor/Pump equipment. Basic understanding of diesel equipment, electronics, and hydraulics. Familiarity with generators, power distribution, A/C, heaters, and diesel-driven pumps. Operational process/system aptitude. Additional Skills & Qualifications Shift: 6:30am - 4pm, Monday - Friday Must be able to clear access for the Newport News Shipyard EPA Universal certification (highly preferred) Skills in HVAC, power generator troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance. Physical ability to bend, squat, crouch, reach, and lift 25 pounds or more. Open to candidates who recently completed HVAC schooling or training and are looking for a great opportunity. Work Environment This role requires working both indoors and outdoors, with physical demands such as bending, squatting, crouching, and lifting heavy objects. Initially, you will work in a shop at the Virginia Beach location for 1-2 weeks for training and then once complete will report directly to support maintenance at the Newport News Shipyard/HII. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
