Responsibilities:
Researches, analyzes, develops, designs, models, and tests
communications systems and equipment, including but not limited to
networks, data links, digital radio, battle management and command
and control systems, wide and local area networks, point-to-point
systems, secure systems, signal coding and modulation schema.
Conducts studies on communications systems and equipment, such as
present and projected volume of communications, effectiveness and
adequacy of system, and estimated equipment costs.
Performs engineering studies to obtain data on new equipment and
systems developments in the communications field and adaptability
of equipment to existing systems.
Performs work under minimal supervision.
Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most
complex issues to higher-level staff.
Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. May act as a
lead.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field of engineering or technology
or completion of USN or DoD technical schools.
Background in telephony and Avaya communication systems, IVN
shipboard.
5 or more years' experience.
Current SECRET clearance or ability to obtain is required.
Desired Qualifications:
Ability to communicate effectively and provide system training.
Prior experience with shipboard installations processes and
controls.
Ability to write test plans, SOVT's and white papers
effectively.
Ability to read schematics, install, repair, and maintain
electronic systems or equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning electronic
equipment and systems and determine the level and method of
repair.
Ability to use hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
Skill in using diagnostic and testing equipment.
